Town of Foam Lake Awarded $125,000 Accessibility Grant

The Town of Foam Lake is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $125,000 through the Government of Canada’s Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) to support accessibility improvements across several municipal facilities.
The Town was notified in January 2026 that additional federal funding had become available and that its application had been successfully selected. The funding will support both immediate accessibility upgrades and a Town-funded Accessibility Audit that will help guide future improvements throughout the community.
The Accessibility Audit will be conducted by Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan and will assess key municipal facilities, including the Recreation Centre, Community Hall, Water Park, Library and Community Cultural Centre, Town Office, Visitor Centre, and other identified sites. The findings will help establish a phased plan for future upgrades and support the Town’s vision of fostering a friendly, safe, and inclusive community.
Planned improvements funded through the project include:
  • Automatic door operators at five municipal facilities
  • Repairs and upgrades to access ramps and sidewalks
  • Improvements to accessible washrooms
  • Accessible pathways and sensory boards at existing playgrounds
  • Development of inclusive play areas for children of all abilities
The Honourable Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families and Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Northern Ontario, commented: “We’re helping people in communities like the Town of Foam Lake access safe, inclusive spaces where they can work, connect, and thrive by supporting construction and upgrade projects under the Enabling Accessibility Fund. By investing in accessibility projects, we’re helping to ensure that everyone can participate fully and succeed, as we continue building a more inclusive Canada.”
Mayor Graham Farrell welcomed the announcement, stating:
“We are grateful for this federal investment, which will help ensure our public spaces are welcoming and accessible for everyone. These improvements will make a meaningful difference in the daily lives of residents and visitors.”
The Enabling Accessibility Fund supports community projects across Canada that remove barriers, improve accessibility, and help ensure people with disabilities can participate fully in their communities.
The Town of Foam Lake thanks the Government of Canada for its support and looks forward to implementing these important improvements that will benefit residents and visitors for years to come.

Construction Code Advisory – CO & Smoke Alarms

On May 5, 2026 Saskatchewan introduced Henry’s Law, a regulatory amendment to strengthen requirements for carbon monoxide (CO) detection in multi-unit residential buildings (MURBs)
What does this mean for you?
  • Owners of all new and existing multi-unit residential buildings are required to comply by November 1, 2026
  • Each suite within a MURB must have at least one CO alarm installed in the suite. This change augments regulatory amendments made in 2022 that made the installation of CO and smoke alarms retroactive in all existing buildings
  • MURBs include condominiums, apartments, motels, hotels and all other buildings with multiple residential suites

Precautionary Fire Ban

This Precautionary Fire Ban is no longer in effect as of June 3, 2026.

The Foam Lake Fire Department has issued a Precautionary Fire Ban effective immediately within all Town of Foam Lake boundaries.

  • Authorized by: Fire Chief, Foam Lake Fire Department
  • Authority: Town of Foam Lake Council (Bylaw 06-2019)

Residents are asked to exercise caution with all open flames, follow all fire safety regulations, and have water readily available at all times when having a recreational fire within Town limits.

Updates will be provided when the ban is reviewed or lifted.

Provincial Disaster Assistance Program

Due to the overland flooding in April 2026, the Town of Foam Lake has been approved for the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) for any private residences and businesses that experienced damage due to this.

Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory

This advisory is no longer in effect as of 9am on May 11, 2026. See the letter from the Saskatchewan Water Security Agency for more information: Foam Lake Rescinding PDWA

This Advisory applies to residents and users of the Town of Foam Lake’s water distribution system at Saskatchewan Ave West, Churchill Road and Letwenuk Road and is effective at 8:00am May 5, 2026 until further notice.

Pursuant to clause 36(1)(a) of The Environmental Management and Protection Act, 2010 this Precautionary Drinking Water Advisory is issued due to water valve repairs resulting in a system depressurization and therefore the safety of the drinking water supply cannot be ensured at all times. Therefore, pursuant to clause 36(1)(b) of The Environmental Management and Protection Act, 2010, consumers must be notified to:

  • (a) boil all water, used for drinking purposes, for at least one (1) minute, at a rolling boil, prior to use;
  • (b) boil water to be used for other activities where it may be ingested, including:
  • (i) brushing teeth or soaking false teeth;
  • (ii) washing fruits and vegetables;
  • (iii) food or drink which will not be subsequently heated; and,
  • (iv) ice cubes;
    • (c) not use the water for washing dishes, unless the water has been boiled or the dishes are sanitized in another fashion. Washed dishes and utensils can be soaked in a bleach water solution (approximately 2 tablespoons of bleach per gallon or 10 ml of bleach per liter of water) for at least two minutes after being washed to kill any bacteria which may be present. Note: Do not mix bleach with soaps or detergents.
    • (d) not drink from any public drinking fountains supplied with water from the public water supply;
    • (e) ensure that younger children and infants are sponge bathed;
    • (f) use an alternative water source known to be safe, if they do not wish to boil the water; and,
    • (g) consult with your physician if you have cuts or rashes that are severe before using the water.

Under most circumstances, there is no need to boil water used for other household purposes. Adults, adolescents and older children may shower, bathe or wash using tap water but should avoid swallowing the water. Laundry may be washed in tap water, either by hand or by machine.

This Advisory is effective on the date and time listed above and will not be lifted until the water supply is determined to be completely safe.
