Who Needs a Business License?
- Local Business – any business operating from a physical location within town limits
- Home-based – if you run a business from your home (full-time or part-time), you are required to have a license
- Contractors & Trades – this includes individuals or companies offering services such as construction, repairs, maintenance, or skilled trades
- Service Providers – anyone offering services for compensation (e.g., personal services, professional services, or mobile services)
- Mobile & Temporary Businesses – businesses without a fixed location, including those operating temporarily within the community
- Transient Traders & Direct Sellers – individuals or companies selling goods or services door-to-door or operating temporarily without a permanent location in Foam Lake
Payment Options
Once you’ve been notified that your application has been approved, you can pay the license fee by
- In-Person at the Town Office, located at 326 Main St
- Debit, Cash or Cheque accepted
- E-Transfer to reception@foamlake.com
- Please include a note/message with “Business License” then your business name
What Happens if I Don’t Have One?
If you do not have a valid business license but are conducting business within the Town of Foam Lake, you are subject to the following as per Bylaw No. 05-2011:
- $200 fine for conducting a business without a license (new or renewed), or advertising/promoting a business without a license
- $100 fine for conducting business activity from a premises not identified on the license, failing to post license, or failing to produce the license to authorized personnel
- $500 fine for providing false or misleading information to the Town of Foam lake or the Bylaw Enforcement Officer
