Build Stronger Community Programs

The Sask Lotteries Community Grant Program helps local non-profit groups offer sport, culture, and recreation programs in the Town of Foam Lake and the R.M. of Foam Lake No. 276. Funding is available for projects that encourage people of all ages and abilities to get involved in their community.

Who Can Apply?

You may apply if your organization is:

  • A non-profit community group
  • Run by volunteers
  • Offering sport, culture, or recreation programs
  • Serving residents of the Town of Foam Lake or the R.M. of Foam Lake No. 276

Who Cannot Apply?

The following are not eligible:

  • Individuals
  • For-profit businesses
  • Government agencies
  • Schools applying on their own
  • Daycares and preschools
  • Libraries
  • Health districts (including long-term care facilities)
  • Organizations whose main purpose is fundraising

What Can Be Funded?

Funding may be used for projects that:

  • Increase participation in sport, culture, or recreation
  • Benefit residents of Foam Lake and the R.M. of Foam Lake No. 276
  • Encourage winter activities
  • Help remove barriers for under-represented groups, including:
    • Indigenous people
    • Newcomers
    • Seniors
    • People with disabilities
    • Single-parent families
    • Youth at risk
    • People experiencing financial hardship

Eligible Expenses

Examples include:

  • Instructor or artist fees
  • Equipment and supplies
  • Facility rentals
  • Transportation for participants
  • Elder fees
  • Short-term project staffing
  • Some facility operating costs (up to 25% of the grant, maximum $500 per program)

What Cannot Be Funded?

Grant funding cannot be used for:

  • Building construction or renovations
  • Sports tournaments or championships
  • Fundraising events
  • Economic development initatives
  • Food or beverages
  • Alcohol
  • Prizes, trophies, or gifts
  • Uniforms
  • Out-of-province travel
  • Property taxes or insurance
  • Computers, printers, furniture, or gaming equipment

How Applications Are Reviewed

Applications are evaluated by the Town of Foam Lake Leisure Services Committee.

Projects are reviewed based on:

  • Community benefit
  • Clear planning and realistic goals
  • A reasonable budget
  • Ability to successfully complete the project

Important Dates

  • Applications Open: September 1, 2026
  • Application Deadline: October 2, 2026
  • Applicants Notified: on or before November 6, 2026
  • Follow Up Due: April 30, 2027

After You Receive Funding

Successful applicants must:

  • Use the funding only for approved expenses
  • Keep receipts for all purchases
  • Acknowledge support from SaskLotteries and the Town of Foam Lake
  • Submit a final follow-up report by the deadline
  • Notify the Town if your project changes significantly
