Effective Monday, February 14, the Town of Foam Lake will remove the Proof of COVID-19 Vaccination or Negative Test Requirements for all Town of Foam Lake facilities. This is in alignment with the announcement made on Tuesday, February 8th by the Government of Saskatchewan to remove the Public Health Order – Mandatory Isolation and Face Covering.

Masks
The Government of Saskatchewan announced the public health orders requiring masking in indoor public spaces will remain in effect until February 28, 2022.  All patrons utilizing facilities while not engaged in physical activity will be required to wear a mask at all times until midnight on February 28, 2022.

Patrons of all ages utilizing facilities to participate in any form of physical activity may remove their mask while actively engaged in activity.

Rapid Test Kits
The Town of Foam Lake continues to provide residents of Foam Lake and the surrounding area with Antigen Testing kits at home. Kits are available at the Town Office Monday to Friday 8:30 am–4:00 pm.

Patience and Understanding
The Town of Foam Lake continues to work with and abide by the current Public Health Orders.  We would ask that in these unprecedented times, all attendees visiting Town of Foam Lake facilities be patient and kind with staff and other patrons as we all work through the remaining few weeks of the current public health orders.

The Handi-Van is getting a new name and we want your ideas!!

Submit your suggestions for the new name of the Handi-Van by Wednesday, February 23.
Prizes for the person who has the winning name!!!
When choosing a name, remember that the van can be booked by anyone (regardless of age) for an appointment, event or even an out of town trip! Get creative!!

In late 2018, Foam Lake lost an integral and long serving volunteer, Colleen Kearns.

In her memory, the Colleen Kearns Memorial Volunteer Award was created. The award celebrates one local volunteer each year that demonstrates a strong commitment to volunteerism in their community, and meets all the criteria set out in the application process.

2022 APPLICATION TIMELINE:
January 3-31 – Applications are available for pick up at the Foam Lake Town Office, 326 Main Street
January 31 – 4:00pm Deadline to get your applications into the Town Office. (When deadline falls on a weekend, it is extended to the following Monday by 4:00pm)

The Colleen Kearns Memorial Volunteer Award will be handed out each year during Volunteer Week (April) at an appropriate venue or event.

Once again – questions regarding Halloween 2021 have been filtered through the Leisure Services Office over the past few weeks. Because the holiday falls on a Sunday this year, with another set of guidelines out by the Government of SK – the Board thought we would take initiative and outline few recommended guidelines that take into account our community! Even though the guidelines are not as strict as last year – here are some best practices to keep our community safe and healthy:

GENERAL:

• Stay home if you are sick or experiencing symptoms, do not hand out candy if you are sick or experiencing symptoms
• Wear a face mask – get creative – it’s Halloween! Sanitize your hands often!
  Follow the 6ft rule!
• Wrapped, store bought treats only – we will sure miss the popcorn balls this year!
• Suggested Trick or Treating hours: 1:00pm – 5:00pm
• Look for the attached PUMPKIN PICTURE in windows – this means its okay to approach!

FOR BUSINESSES:

• Assign 1-2 employees outside the business to hand out treats
• Wear masks and gloves, sanitize frequently
• Set up a table to create a barrier between your employees & little goblins, disinfect this table often
• Pack each treat individually – no loose on unpackaged candies
• Post set “trick or treat times” in your window at least 1 week in advance
• Post the attached PUMPKIN PICTURE in your window so kids/parents know its ok to approach

FOR HOMES:

•  If you are participating in handing out treats, place the attached PUMPKIN PICTURE clearly in your window for kids to see. This will indicate it is okay for them to approach the home
• Pack all treats individually – no loose or unpackaged candies
• Wear a mask to protect both yourself and kiddies, sanitize your hands often!
• Use tools like tongs or “candy shoot” to hand out treats! Another opportunity to get creative!
• Consider these ideas for handing out treats:
  • A “garage give out” – there is usually more room for kids to be safely 6ft apart here!
  • Placing a table between yourself and trick or treaters – disinfect this table throughout the day
  • Leaving a large bowl of treats on your doorstep with a note – ex. – “Please take one treat only”
  • Marking out with tape 6ft along your drive or walk way for kids to keep a safe distance

FOR FAMILIES:

• Whenever possible, accompany your children trick or treating. This will ensure they are trick or treating safely.
• Talk to your children about road safety and physical distancing guidelines/expectations
• Have your kids wear a mask & Sanitize hands regularly
• Show your children the attached PUMPKIN PICTURE, and ensure they know its okay to approach the homes or businesses with this picture in the window.

Reminder: Please use caution when applying herbicides and avoid spraying on windy days. Remember to be mindful of neighbours when spraying your yard.

A group of volunteers whom have been screened and trained using best practices, have stepped up to create the FOAM LAKE & AREA COMMUNITY SUPPORT TEAM.

The purpose of this team is to provide support for all citizens, the vulnerable (those with no means of transportation, single parents, elderly etc.), or other at risk people (those in self-isolation, those who may be symptomatic, or caring for an ill family member) during the COVID-19 shutdown.

• Posting and picking up mail
• Bill payment drop off
• Receiving urgent supplies
• A friendly phone call
• Any other “good neighbour” task
