Foam Lake welcomes Leisure Services Director – Julia Schofer
In her first few days of joining the team of municipal employees with the Town of Foam Lake, newly appointed Leisure Services Director Julia Schofer is bringing her A-game. Julia shares, “I’ve heard so many wonderful things about Foam Lake and about all of the recreational activities that have been held here. It is a wonderful career full of new opportunities.”
Julia comes to Foam Lake prepared for the position of Leisure Services Director with a background in leisure services and also an extensive educational background. Julia was the Recreation Co-Ordinator for the City of Yorkton and most recently the Community Development Co-Ordinator for the Town of Wolseley. Julia has a Diploma in Recreation and Community Development from Saskatchewan Polytechnic, and also a Business Administration Diploma and a Bachelor in Sports and Recreation Management, both of which she attained from the University of Regina. With a busy recreation and leisure services department in Foam Lake, Julia is looking forward to learning and being a part of all the community events adding, “I’m excited to be here in Foam Lake and am looking forward to the entire year of community activities.”
Currently Melville is home for Julia however she is looking at eventually relocating to Foam Lake. She enjoys spending time with her family at the lake at their seasonal camping spot. She is a sports fan and enjoys watching football, hockey and basketball. This former figure skater, coach and judge, loves spending time at the gym.
Looking forward to her work as Leisure Service Director for the Town of Foam Lake, Julia said, “I am looking forward to putting down some roots here and meeting the people that make this community the best place in the world to live.”
